FAQs
How does your meal service work? We operate like a local farm-to-table milkman. We partner with local growers, prepare their harvests into ready-to-heat-and-eat meals, package them in reusable glass jars, then deliver them to your doorstep on Fridays. They arrive in a cooler bag with an ice pack and will stay cool for 4+ hours after arrival, depending on the season. We also offer free pickups. When you order again, we ask that you place last week’s cooler bag, rinsed jars & lids, and ice pack on your doorstep for the exchange. If you selected pickup, please leave these items at our pickup locations. _ What do I do with all the glass jars? Please rinse / wash them and return them, along with the ice pack and cooler bag with your next purchase. If you plan to never order with us again, or stop ordering for a very long time, please return them to our kitchen at 3400 Comsouth Dr. Is this a subscription service? Will I be auto-charged? You get to choose! Click on the three lines in the upper right hand corner of this page (you may need to scroll to the top), then click on your name. Under “Membership,” you can select Week-to-Week Ordering, Active Subscription, Goodbye For Now, or Goodbye Forever. _ How do I review, edit, or pause my order? Click the three lines in the upper right hand corner of your screen (you may need to scroll to the top of the page). Select your name. From there, you can edit your cart or skip an order. Please note that you have until Tuesday at 3:00pm to update your order for Friday delivery. _ I have some food allergies or dietary restrictions. Can you accommodate them? Most of our food is naturally gluten, dairy, and soy free. On occasion, we cook with local low-pasteurized dairy or organic stoneground heirloom grains. All of our food is seed oil free. We do occasionally cook with nuts. If you have a food allergy, we recommend customizing your bundles and placing your order between Monday and Tuesday afternoon, after you've had a chance to review the final ingredient list of our menu. _ How does the subscription work? You have until Tuesday at 3:00pm to place your order for the coming Friday. If you place an order after Tuesday at 3:00, it will be delivered the following Friday. We deliver all of our meals directly to your door in a cooler bag with an ice pack on Friday. They food can be enjoyed for at least seven days, so it will last you through the following Friday. Our menu changes every week, so your next order will automatically populate with the same quantity and type of food that you chose last week. You have until Tuesday at 3:00 to review and adjust these automatic selections. _ Where does your food come from? The vast majority of our food is from the state of Texas, and most of it is grown or raised within an hour of Austin. We partner with a variety of incredible local farmers, prioritizing those who engage in organic and regenerative practices. Some of our primary farmers include Boggy Creek Farm, Shirttail Creek Farm, Belle Vie Farm, Capra Farm, and Steelbow Farm. _ Are your meals organic? Our meals are not 100% certified organic. We choose to prioritize supporting small local farms who are growing with integrity rather than outsourcing from larger farms in other states that are certified organic. All of our meals are AOALA, as-organic-as-local-allows. For example, there are no 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, certified organic beef ranchers in the state of Texas. However, there are wonderful farms like Shirttail Creek who are raising their cows with integrity, 100% pasture-raised and grass-fed and grass finished. _ How do I heat the meals? Specific heating instructions come in the printed version of our newsletter each week. Here are some general guidelines for heating your meals. -Stovetop: Heat over medium / medium-high heat until warm. -Oven: Warm in 350°F preheated oven for ~10 minutes. -Microwave: Heat in microwave-safe dish until warm. -You can also freeze your meals, but make sure there is 10% empty space in the jar of to allow for expansion.
